Every once and a while I run across one of those songs that we have heard, but didn’t realize how much I liked it until I really listened to it. The song, Hallelujah, was originally written by Leonard Cohen. I am not a huge fan of the original, but I love many of the covers (Susan Boyle’s and Alexandra Burke’s are good examples). This song came up in a playlist the other day.

So what’s your song for today? I there one that you just discovered? Or perhaps it is just one you’ve been listening to a lot. Let me know!

Unfortunately I cannot embed the video here, but take a look at it on YouTube. The video is from The X Factor, a British singing competition. And it is just astounding.

Oh, a friend posted an amazing version of that on Facebook this week by K.D Lang – starts off kind of standard but the ending is epic! Hope this link works (I’m at work so can’t access YouTube video’s properly!)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE

My song of the day would probably be Cary Brothers – Under Control – it’s a song that I can have on repeat for hours! I have a video of it posted here – http://themantlemusic.com/brothers-control/.  Of course Nathan Lee (who may or may not be said ‘friend’) is always a winner with me too!

I had seen that one by K.D. Lang. However I had only watched the first minute or so of it. Thanks for letting me know that I should listen to the whole thing, it was worth it.

That song by the Cary Brothers is a nice one, they remind me of Coldplay.
